Don Juan Gaspar, who is 60 years old, inherited this farm from his father Manuel Gaspar, who has already passed away.
In the early 90s, the farm land was mainly used for producing corn and beans. In 1998 however, Juan, and his wife and three children decided to start cultivating Caturra, Pache, Catuai, Bourbon and San Ramon varieties.
The farm is located at an altitude of 1700 meters above sea level at the Canalaj village, which is part of the Petatán municipality in Huehuetenango. There is a spectacular view on the surrounding mountains and hills, and that is why the farm is sometimes also called ‘El Mirador’, or ‘The Viewpoint’.
Don Juan Gaspar and his family solely relies on the income that is generated from the farm. He is therefore very interested in improving the quality of his coffee even more and selling it in the most direct way to roasters.
